Endicott College

Since its founding in 1939, Endicott College has pioneered the integration of theory and practice through experiential learning. The Master of Education degree builds on this philosophy. Graduate programs of study encourage experiential learning and teacher-oriented research methods.

The Endicott College Masters’ Programs focus on meeting the individual needs and creative interests of graduate students. The programs also emphasize the development of a dynamic learning community. The goal is to create an educational environment that encourages ongoing transformation, innovation, and skill development that are the foundations of excellent teaching and learning.

Located on the Massachusetts Bay ocean front, the campus is a beautiful retreat center complete with walking trails and picturesque landscapes. Just 20 miles north of Boston, the campus is located in historic Beverly, retaining the old New England ambiance.

About The Institute for Educational Studies (TIES)

TIES was established in 1987 order to advance integrative teaching and learning in workshops, seminars, and courses for teachers/leaders in business and education.

TIES has conducted teacher formation courses in Norway, New Zealand and Canada. The faculty has also provided consultation for schools throughout North and South America, Norway, Sweden, New Zealand and Australia. Launching its eCampus in 1996, TIES has been an innovator in the field of experiential online graduate programs.

The Institute:

  • Emphasizes the teacher’s role in advocating for a secure and sustainable world.
  • Recognizes that diversity, interdependence, ecological awareness and a realization of the body-brain-spirit connection are integral to Earth stewardship
  • Fosters the development of compassionate and collaborative learning communities
  • Develops initiatives that use experiential learning to inform academic inquiry

In addition to the accredited online Masters programs with Endicott College, TIES has established EarthTIES.org — an organization that conducts eConferences. These virtual events promote The Great Work — a theme developed by cultural historian Thomas Berry and mathematical cosmologist Brian Swimme. The intention is to raise awareness to the “great planetary turning” and the role of humanity in that Great Work.



The Endicott College – TIES Partnership

Established in April 1998, this partnership is based on Endicott’s deep commitment to applied learning that emphasizes off campus work activities and TIES extensive experiences in establishing on-line collaborative learning communities that emphasize systems thinking.

TIES is responsible for providing academic content of the program including the establishment of the online education eCampus. Endicott is responsible for academic oversight and validation, student registration, and tuition payments. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, Endicott grants the degree, Masters of Education in Integrative Learning.



Statement of Understanding

The Institute for Educational Studies is committed to providing an educational experience that will encourage students to view the concept of diversity from a variety of perspectives in order to foster understanding and ultimately greater respect and acceptance among individuals. Embracing diversity means understanding and respecting our individual differences, which includes the dimensions of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, differing abilities (e.g., physical, emotional, and cognitive), religious and political beliefs. Central to the exploration of the differences and similarities among individuals is the need to offer a safe, positive, and supportive environment. The goal is to reach a greater understanding of each other and to move beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.
